Week of January 29- February 4

So to get off on the right foot, I wanted to post one awesome thing that each of my kids did this week.

Miss Gweny

Learned how to roll! I can't believe that she is big enough to do that already. She was laying on her tummy, screaming because she didn't want to be there, and promptly rolled onto her back. I flipped her back on her tummy and she rolled right back over. I do have proof of all of this on my phone, but I can't figure out how to get it to download onto the computer, or do anything for that matter. I actually kind of feel like throwing it against the wall.
Another exciting thing about Miss Gwen is that she is going to be 4Months tomorrow. Oh my heavens where does time go, seriously!
More on that tomorrow including her "stats" after we visit the Dr for her well-check.

Nixon
Boy does this kid crack me up! He is always coming up with something funny or silly to say or do. Here is just one example in photos: that obviously didn't happen this week, I really don't still have my christmas tree up

He got this little policeman outfit thing that came with all the "tools" he would need to get the job done. He put it on and started strutting his stuff for the camera. He is such a ham! (I especially like the second photo, he is sizzling! ZZZZZ)

Also Nixon said the cutest thing to me the other day. He asked me "can I kiss baby sis", I of course answered with a yes and tipped her down where he could kiss her on her head. He then said "I love my sis, I love my mom, I love my dad, I love my dog, I LOVE MY FAMILY!" It was the sweetest thing ever. I told him how much we all love him too, and how glad we are to have him in our family. He is just the sweetest!

New Years Goals

Ok... So I know that it is like a month into the new year already. And quite honestly, I am not a fan of New Years "Resolutions." Mostly they are just stupid things that people want to accomplish throughout the year, with the main focus on weight loss/getting ready for suimsuit season. Well, I know that I'm not going to loose any weight, and I'm sure a bikini won't look any better on me in six months then it would now, so I'm not going to waste my time on silly resolutions.

Instead I wanted to make a goal for myself, one that I honestly think I can achieve. It's kinda silly really but here is the scoop.
  • At least once a week, or more if my mood allows, I want to blog about something cute, funny, or just downright awesome that my kids do. And it can be anything!
  • Read some form of scripture everynight, even if it is just a single verse. I really want to read the BOM again, I did it years ago when President Hinkley challenged everyone to do it, but it is by far time for me to do it again. Plus I got this beautiful new set of scriptures, I am officially a Tingey, here is proof!
Plus the pages look a little bit dull, they need some life to them.

  • Another goal I have for myself is to be more patient, I am by nature a very impatient person. It is one of my biggest flaws, and I need to learn to be better at it. -Actually, I think I am doing a great job at this one at the moment, I have forgotten how many times I have walked Nixon back to his bedroom now. So help me, If Blake lets him nap until 7:00 one more time I'll have his neck! ;)
There, I think that is a great start. Some goals that are realistic and I know I can accomplish them.

Anyone else have any goals?? Share please!

Looking Back

At the beginning of September Nixon was able to start Preschool. Before School started there was an open house that the kids were able to attend so they could meet their teachers, some of their classmates, and get used to the classroom. Here are some pics of Nix before the Open House.

Nixon was so excited to meet his teacher.
When it was time to leave the open house, Nixon cried. He had so much fun playing with the toys and had already made a new friend. He was sad that he had to wait for a little while to go back to school.

This was the morning that school started. He was so excited to get ready to go.
Nixon is so lucky that his cousin Jaycie is in his class. They love each other so much, and it was so good for him to have her there with him to help teach him the ropes. Jaycie is one year older than Nixon so she has one more year until she starts Kindergarten so it was so fun that she had experience with the whole Preschool thing.

Here is Nixon getting ready to walk over to pick Jaycie up for school. He is such a gentleman!
Little Stud ready to go to school. He felt so big having a cool Spiderman Backpack.

Cute Miss Jaycie all ready to go. She is such a doll.
The two of them together. They are sure a handful when they are together, but they are also the best of friends.

Later that night after Nixon got home from school he was so sad and wanted to go back. I had to tell him that his teachers, Miss Julie and Miss Nicki weren't there that they had to go home to go to bed and he could go back soon. He was so sad that he couldn't go back yet.
Its amazing all the things that he has learned already. He is learning his letters and the sounds that go with each letter. He has learned how to glue and cut with scissors.

Just last week we got a progress report for Nixon from the fall semester of school. His teachers had really good things to say about him. Some of their comments included "Nixon is a great kid and we are glad to have him in our preschool. He has gotten better at listening and is participating in groups more independantly." He knows his full name and age, many of the shapes and all the colors, and can draw circles and is learning to trace letters. He can also recognize and spell his name when it is shown to him.

I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to raise this sweet little bundle of energy. He is such a mommas boy and I love it!
