A piece of advice.

This happened to me about a month ago, but I just thought I'd share it to prevent anything bad happening to anyone else. If you go to get your oil changed, always check that your hood is properly latched before you leave. I went to get my oil changed and after I left I got on the freeway to go meet my mom to do some shopping. As I got on the freeway and increased in speed, the hood of my car flew up! It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I was totally unable to see anything! I had about two inches of sight under the edge of my hood. I was able to pull over to the side of the freeway and shut it.

After I shut the hood I called Blake in complete panic. He calmed me down and together we went back to the place I got my oil changed and spoke with the manager. He was very apologetic and told us to get a few estimates done and they would repair all the damages. We did as we were asked and turned them in. A few days ago we got a call from the regional manager who is refusing to pay for the damages caused. We are in such a mess right now! All I'm asking is that my car get repaired! I know it wouldn't seem like that big of an expense but all the estimates turned out to be around two thousand dollars! I hope that everything works out and we can get this taken care of soon!

I just need to thank the Lord for being there with Nixon and I on that day. I know he was watching over and protecting us. If we wouldn't have been in that exact spot, in the far right hand lane, and that perfect time of day we could have been seriously injured. Not only Nix and I, but some other car could have been involved!

Moral of the story is... ALWAYS check that the hood is latched tightly!!

  2. Oh my goodness! That is so so scary! I would have been a mess. Im glad you were able to calmly get over to the side and put the hood down. I hope it all gets worked out. That kinda drama is the worst and most frustrating(we are experiencing similar drama at my house). If you need to vent or something let me know! :) I hope you are LOVING your new house, I want to see pictures or something soon! :)

  4. Oh my gosh how scary!! I totally would have panicked! But sounds like you handled it like a pro. I hate car problems, they're the worst! Yesterday I was in the bank drive through and when I pulled out I scratched my Lexus accross the cement as I was turning. Ya.. my husband was pretty upset :(
